In Morocco, avocado production is a relatively new industry.

This dark green produce is a favorite fruit for all ages and all walks of life, but the Moroccan variety adds a bit of spice to the typical avocado. The flavor, texture, size and appearance of the Moroccan Avocado is different from that of any other avocado on the market. It has a unique hardiness that allows it to be shipped easily across vast distances as well as sit on your counter for weeks without turning brown. Its flavor is more intense than that found in other avocados.

What makes Moroccan avocados special?

The Moroccan Avocado is special because of its size, shape and appearance. The outer skin is smooth and glossy with a yellow-green color when ripe. Inside, the flesh ranges from light green to bright yellow with an almost fluorescent glow when cut open.

Moroccan Avocados are bigger in size than other avocado countries, they are grown in rich sandy soil, which gives them a creamy flavor and a smooth texture.

Moroccan Avocado Farming:

Avocados are grown in tropical regions. Thanks to our bountiful soil, good drainage, plenty of sunshine, and cool ocean breezes, we are able to produce and provide a steady supply of mouthwatering, velvety, creamy Moroccan avocados.

The cultivated area in Morocco is mainly situated in the north of the country, in the Gharb region. It stretches from Kenitra in the south to Larache in the north, on a narrow strip of coastal land approximately 130 kilometers long and more than 80 kilometers wide.

When do Moroccan avocados come into season?

Morocco's green skin harvest season  is from September to February.Morocco's harvest season for Hass avocados is between November and April.

By November, the fruit dry matter reaches a minimum of 23% which delays the harvesting. This is when the fruit from the Mediterranean region is at its best with a smooth taste and delicate skin.

Most of the fruit comes from the Gharb region, which is known to produce high quality avocados. As well as being delicious, they are also packed full of goodness.

In fact, half an avocado contains about 190 milligrams of potassium – more than the amount in a banana! Avocados are also known to contain monounsaturated fatty acids. These fatty acids are associated with improved cholesterol levels as well as lower blood pressure and inflammation.
